I'm sorry you felt like you had to even post this. Your body, your life, your decisions. You dont owe anyone any reasons why you do what you do. As a feminist and and a mom, this video makes me sad that you felt a need to justify your decision.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sad at all, personally, because this wasn't so much about me justifying my choice to the world as it was me trying to support other women's choices. The number of women who thanked me for expressing what they were afraid to say out loud made it worth it. I also think videos like this can be beneficial for people who genuinely cannot understand why a woman would choose not to have a child, especially since our culture still pushes the narrative that women are naturally more caring and are at their best when they're moms.
DeleteOf course, it's sad that our society still puts that pressure on women. But I wanted to approach this topic clearly, calmly, and in a way that would prompt discussion about that pressure.
I appreciate your comments about wanting to help people understand and I was not trying to put you down in anyway!! You did great and it is your very respectable choice.
