Like most MAC Satin-finish lipsticks, it can be a bit difficult to get an even color. But the layer-and-blot trick definitely works with this shade, and it's a thousand times more comfortable than Illamasqua Obey.

My other Back 2 MAC acquisition was one of the new-ish Retro Matte lipsticks, Relentlessly Red. I know how I feel about the formula: it's not the best for your lips, even if you're accustomed to uber-mattes like I am, and you will have to exfoliate before applying and be gentle with your mouth for a few hours after removing. As for the color...I'm not so sure. I oscillate between loving it, hating it, and feeling kinda "meh" about it. Hopefully we'll get more colors in the Retro Matte line, though, because I think the finish is very neat and great for a modern pin-up look.

Of all the lipsticks I've seen you showcase on this blog, I think Relentlessly Red might be my favorite on you! It suits you so perfectly, I can't even stand it. I've actually been eyeing RR myself for a few months because of that delicious neon coral-red color, but my lips are begging me to reconsider. I wish I could find a dry-lip-friendly dupe, but I suspect this is one of those lipsticks with no real dupes. Hmm...
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you kindly! As for dupes: is there anything in the Armani Maestro line that's similar? It wasn't my favorite formula, but it definitely has a similar look without the major dryness. There's also the NARS Velvet Matte pencils; they've got a very silicone-y feel.
