Pinterest Inspiration #1: Metallics

I've succumbed to my Bare-Face-Bright-Lips comfort zone, which means one thing: CHALLENGE! I have a Pinterest account, but I haven't been using it to its fullest. I decided to look for pale-ish ladies with interesting makeup, barring anything that was in my usual style. I particularly loved this metallic eye look.

Unfortunately, it didn't love me: I couldn't get it to photograph properly (I promise it looked better in person!), and it just emphasized how asymmetrical my eyes are. Case in point:

Awkward.

Still, it was fun, and it was definitely fun to apply eyeshadow with a damp brush, which I haven't done in at least a year. I'll have to keep fiddling with my Urban Decay Book of Shadows II; it's a beautiful palette, and I just don't give it enough attention.

The main materials:

MAC Strobe Cream, Lancome Pale Lip, Sleek Pan Tao, Wet n' Wild Brulee eyeshadow, Urban Decay Half Baked and Twice Baked eyeshadows, MAC Woodwinked eyeshadow, and the Wet n' Wild Night Elf palette from...Christmas 2011, I think? I used the Elizabeth Arden Crystal Clear gloss to make the lips shiny and plenty of Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes pencil on my lash line.

This has actually led me to the decision to purge Pan Tao. As lovely as it is, I just don't think it flatters me, and I definitely prefer my cream formulation peaches.

Also, I had a bit of a WTF moment: after 10 years of loyal service, my Ultima II brow and lash comb snapped in half. It shall be sorely missed.

  1. I think I told you before at MUB, but these metallic eyeshadow placement is absolutely gorgeous. It's a standout on your pale skin and I don't find it emphazises assimetry on your eyes in my opiniĆ³n -if you didn't tell us, I would have never noticed. Hugs!!!

  2. I love this and your eyes are far more symmetrical than mine! I can see this look losing most of its impact without the editorial squint in the original pic, though -- why we haz to see things with our eyes rather than treating our lids as the perfect canvas?
Also a fan of Pan Tao on you -- but would love to hear of your cream substitute for it.

    1. I tried to do that squint for half an hour and I just kept looking like a moron. XD

I have a slew of peach cream blushes, but my favorites is KA Tansoleil.
