GIVEAWAY! Besame Classic Color Lipstick in Merlot [CLOSED]

NOTE: This giveaway is open to both the US and Canada.

It's no secret that I've become a bit of a Besame stan over the past year, and now I want to share the joy with you. I capitalized on the Black Friday sales and bought a brand new tube of 1933 Merlot, a brick red shade in Besame's trademark formula that should flatter the majority of skintones. The open tube in this picture is mine; yours will be the brand new one nestled in the beautiful Besame box.

As always, there are some rules for this contest:

  • You must be at least 18 years old and located in the US or Canada to enter.
  • Canadian entrants must remember that I pay for my giveaways out of my own pocket and it is more expensive and intensive to ship to Canada. If you are a Canadian winner, you will likely have to be patient until I can find the time and money to ship out.
  • You must be prepared to provide me with your full name and address if you win.
  • You may only enter once. Using multiple accounts to enter is cheating and will result in immediate disqualification.
  • Comment on this post to enter. Your blog post comment must describe your favorite vintage (pre-1980) film or book to qualify.
  • Entries will be finalized on January 12th at 11:59pm EST. I will use Random.com to pick a winner.
  • You do NOT have to be subscribed to this blog to enter, but I will announce the winner in a blog post, so it might help to bookmark BOGL for the next month if you've entered. If you do not respond to that blog post within 48 hours, I will draw a new winner.
  • Please be aware that I have comment moderation turned on to avoid spam comments. Your comment may not appear right away. Do not submit multiple comments.

Best of luck, and thank you for supporting Bad Outfit, Great Lipstick!

  2. My favorite vintage film is Them! because I like weird sci-fi. :)

  3. Ooooh, pretty! My favourite vintage film is Daisies by the Czech filmmaker Věra Chytilová. It's avant-garde, political, and great fun. :) It's on YouTube if anyone cares to check it out.

    1. Hi, Danielle! I wish I could, but because I've had so many problems with forwarding services, my post office, etc., I only have the contest open to people living in the US and Canada. Maybe one day, a brand that ships to multiple countries will sponsor a prize for me!

    2. Fair enough, thanks for replying! :) There's a store about an hour away from me that stocks Besame now, I hate to think how much it must cost them to get it! But it's nice to be able to actually touch and try the lipsticks in person.

  5. My favourite vintage movie is Sissi, a glorious Technicolor, very fictionalized biography of empress Elizabeth of Austria. The actress Romy Schneider is the most beautiful woman ever in my opinion.

  6. My favourite pre-1980 book (actually, my favourite book full stop) is I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith, of 101 Dalmations fame. It's a pre-WWII story of an impoverished, eccentric family living in a crumbling down English castle, told through the journal of Cassandra, the 17 year old daughter. It's wonderful.

  7. I love this question (and the lipstick)! My favorite vintage book (and possibly favorite book in general) is Vladimir Nabokov's Pale Fire, which is a satire of academia, a twisted fairy tale, and an absolute fantasia of language. My favorite vintage movies are North by Northwest and Charade.

  8. Favorite vintage book is way too hard to pick. My favorite old movie is Escuela de Vagabundos with the glamorous Miroslava as lead role.

  9. This is so tough! I'm not very well versed in vintage novels or films, so the default answer is The Wizard of Oz. My lack of options for this question has me thinking that I should probably watch and read some more vintage works.

  10. Using your definition of vintage (before 1980) I am vintage. Coming up with just one novel is tough, but I would pick Gone with the Wind. I read it when I was 13 years old and I thought it was the most wonderful and romantic thing I had ever read. I borrowed it from the school library on a Friday and I read straight through the weekend and finished it up Sunday night. One reason I was able to finish it in a weekend, was that I was allowed to skip family meals and eat in my room. My parents had a rule that there was to be no reading at the dining room table. Really it was one of their few faults. There is one additional reason this is my favorite. After I did not make an appearance at Friday night dinner, my dad swung by to see what I was reading. When He found out what it was, he started to quote the first line of the book, "Scarlet O'Hara was not beautiful...". It was a wonderful moment between my dad and me as we chatted about the book. I will never forget it.

  11. My favorite film would be Sunset Boulevard. The story, themes, and atmosphere are so chilling yet satisfying.

  12. I love Casablanca and City Lights. Both make me smile, cry and smile again.

  13. Gone with the Wind or the Sound of Music!

  14. The Third Man! It's the first movie I saw that really challenged what I thought a movie was, if that makes sense. My favorite scene is when the porter is speaking in German to Joseph Cotten and subtitles are intentionally left out so you feel as disoriented as he does. Such a pretty film as well. I bet this color would look great on Alida Valli too! :)

  15. My favorite film is Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. Just a charming romantic film with two great actors.

  16. I'm going with the original "the women". But second place is anything with Joan Crawford! I have also never entered a blog contest before, but I love Besame's whole esthetic so much!

  17. Thank you for doing this giveaway! My favorite vintage film is "Dark Passage." I really like the overall mysterious and dark tone of the movie, I think the plot is interesting and the acting is great too. It got me interested in film noir.

  18. Thanks for doing this giveaway. My favorite vintage film is Dark Passage. This movie got me into film noir and Lauren Bacall. She's such a great actress!

  19. Thanks for running this giveaway! I like too many pre-1980 books, but haven't watched too many older movies. I think because it's that time of year, the first thing to spring to mind as a "favorite" is "It's a Wonderful Life". Can't go wrong with a holiday classic!

  20. Oh, questions about favorites are always weirdly hard for me! If I had to pick a book by how many times I'd read it, it would probably be The Outsiders--though it's been at least 5 years now. Maybe 10. I wonder if I'd still enjoy it. Thanks for the giveaway!

  21. my favorite film is Fail-Safe, completely changed my worldview!

  22. The first favourite pre-1980 book that came to mind (I'm bad at picking favourites!) was Ray Bradbury's The Illustrated Man. I love his writing, and that set of stories is particularly magical.

  23. My favorite old movie is Casablanca, has been ever since I finally learned enough about the world to appreciate its layers of cleverness and heart. Some of the best one-liners in the history of film and possibly the only time you get to see an actress from the era actually run her hands through her impeccably-coiffed hair.

  24. Favorite films are ones I can watch over and over again, so favorites are Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, and Miracle on 34th Street.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have a real soft spot for Auntie Mame.

  26. One of my favorite vintage books - story, actually - is "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream." Very poignant and a depressing end, but boy do I love it!

  27. I love the 1951 film The African Queen, mostly for sentimental reasons, though. When I was a kid we lived on a lake, and my dad cobbled together a pontoon from pieces of other pontoons and called it The African Queen. I should read the book sometime. Thanks for the giveaway!
