FOTD: Besame Victory Red

It's been a while since I've done a stand-alone "Face of the Day" post. There are two reasons for this. First, I don't wear very exciting or unique makeup on the regular. Second, if I'm trying a new product or technique, I'm usually doing it for a review or a specialized post, so there's no need to make a FOTD post outlining what I did for my base or my brows. In short, I'm boring.

But Besame lipsticks have quickly become my favorite traditional lipstick formula. And now that I've used a gift card to buy my first full size tube--a leaning-cool red called Victory Red--I feel like it's finally time for a new FOTD. This lipstick is worth it.

Please excuse the brows, though. I'm trying to use up a deluxe sample, and the shade is definitely too warm for me.

  1. How long ago did you buy that D&G powder foundation? I can't find it anywhere in that shade! It's on the D&G website but not available for sale - and it's sold out everywhere, which is also the case for a lot of D&G's other products. At first I was afraid the line was being discontinued, but then I found an article from this past June that said that Shiseido was the new license holder for D&G Beauty - I wonder if they're re-doing some stuff?

    1. Several years ago. If it helps, somebody told me that Burberry makes a very similar product!

  2. Good goddamn that shade is perfect on you. I think the best bold lipsticks are like little fairies that sprinkle a bit of dust on your eyes, your complexion, your hair, and makes them all sparkle together. It's like...I can't describe it but I know it when I see it. The really excellent lipcolors are always immediately obvious when you put them on.

    1. I think the best description I've ever heard is "face brightening." The color just makes you look more awake and healthy.

    1. If you'd like to buy one, Sephora is having their 15% off sale soon, and I know the Besame website is still selling a few of the mini lipsticks.
