Swatches of the Missha Signature Complexion Coordinating BB Cream

I've recently begun admitting a few things about myself: there are more ingredients that break me out than I want to admit to, and most Korean BB creams and foundations are too heavily fragranced for me to tolerate them. This doesn't make them bad products; it just means that there are plenty I should stop trying to use. At the top of my list is the Missha Signature Complexion Coordinating BB cream: I bought it in such a flurry after seeing the shades that I completely neglected to read the ingredients. Now that I have read them, I know that this stuff will not work on my face.

That being said, I think I can still help a little by providing swatches of the product!

This BB cream comes in three shades: 1 White, 2 Beige, and 3 Honey Beige. I got sample packets of both the White and the Beige shades. The White seems like it's going to be a corrector, a la MAC Face & Body White or Yaby Daisy, but it's actually meant to be a face-brightening product that "adjusts to your skintone"--in other words, the true color is revealed when you rub it in to your skin. I'd say that the White blends out to about NW5-10 in MAC, and Beige is about NW15-20 in MAC. You can blend these two together, but weirdly enough, I find that I don't really get an "in-between shade"; it seems to stay in White's NW10 range.

  1. The only Missha BB cream I've tried was I think called Perfect Cover? Red tube. The lightest color was straight up grey toned. Super weird!

    1. Hilariously, I wore that in graduate school! That was when I was just beginning to realize I wasn't that pink. TBF, it seemed to almost adjust to my skintone, so I don't think I look off in pictures from that time period.

  2. I recently picked up the Missha Perfect Cover shade 13 since I had a coupon at Target and there was a gift card with purchase and it's easy to return if it doesn't work for me. I was surprised how fragranced it is! I have the Signature Real Complete in 13 as well but it's a little too dry and pink, but I don't recall it being so strong on fragrance. Was also surprised at the fragrance in the Kevyn Aucoin SSE. Even if it didn't irritate skin, which it surely can, I just rarely like the scent and it's a shame when that's the reason I won't use something (looking at you, Lancome Hypnose Drama).

    1. Yes, it's the smell. I've gotten to the point where most products with very strong fake floral smells just gross me out. :(

  3. I really like the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream. It looks sort of grey toned until you blend it in, many Korean BB creams do. Have you tried that one? How is this one different? One of the things I like about it is that it doesn't cling to dry patches as badly as many foundations do on my skin. I usually mix it with some kind of luminizing product or a moisturizer (I have super dry skin). Just curious how this product compares.

    1. I can't compare this on the face, since I got the sample packets in a tizzy before I checked the ingredients (my mistake). I will say, however, that this feels thinner than Perfect Cover, and it looks more glowy when I sheer it out. I would guess that this has lighter coverage and a more luminous finish, but definitely get samples to try out first.

    2. Thanks. It looks intriguing, might give it a try.

  4. I'm wearing Missha M Signature #13 as I type and I also wish it was less fragranced. I think Dr Jarts are neutral-smelling, but the shade range is darker and more limited. Have you tried Korean cushion compacts?

    1. Unfortunately, most of the cushions contain ingredients I can't use or run too dark for me. They look great on others, though!
