Focus On: Peach + FOTDs

I love peach, but I have a bit of difficulty wearing it. While I am neutral, I lean towards the cool side, and a lot of peach products have a very yellow undertone that makes them look jaundiced and just plain wrong on my skin. If they're cooler peaches, then they tend to be too sheer, and with my high cheek color and rosy lips, they turn a sickly color. Over the years, I've managed to find some peachy products that really work with me, often in tandem with another product for fuller, brighter coverage.

The Rock & Republic Luxe Lipgloss (discontinued) in Muse, a light, bright peach, is the perfect companion to the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain ($8) in Charm, a creamy nude. The Sleek blush ($6.50) in Pan Tao is the only matte peach I've ever truly loved, while the ELF mineralized blush ($3) in Peachy Cheeky and Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Moist Glow ($24) in Tansoleil are glowier go-tos. I don't have any true peach eye shadows, but Chanel Illusion d'Ombre ($36) in Emerville and MAC pigment ($20) in Melon are semi-peachy shades with distinct gold tints. Bobbi Brown's corrector ($23) in Porcelain Peach is one of the few concealers that really dims my undereye darkness. For a quick flush of peach on my lips and cheeks, I like to throw theBalm Staniac ($18) in Homecoming Queen in my purse. And if a nude lipstick needs a kick, I'll soften it with L'oreal leGloss ($6.50) in Baby Blossom or brighten it with Revlon Super Lustrous gloss ($8) in Coral Reef. Finally, I like to add a bit of shine to warmer blushes with MAC's Cream Color Base ($17.50) in Hush.

And now, 2 sets of really crappy FOTD pictures. With the heat and the spots of pain brought on by my brand new glasses (I haven't had an eye appointment in over 3 years, so these are much stronger), I just haven't had much patience for picture-taking. Still, I hope these will give you a rough idea of what I was wearing!

    1. Thank you kindly! I haven't worn makeup this past week because I've been a bit under the weather, and today I have a lot of appointments, but I'm hoping to get back in the red lipstick groove this weekend. :)
