FOTD: MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus

Let's get this out of the way: I don't really care that much about Miley Cyrus. Her music doesn't impress me, and I'm not particularly bothered by her attempts to cut away at her wholesome "Disney star" image. We all do stupid stuff when we're growing up. I do find her awkward appropriation of minority cultures more than a little discomforting, and thankfully, I'm not the only one. That being said, I bought this lipstick for two reasons that have fuck all to do with Miley Cyrus:

  1. It's a Viva Glam lipstick, so every cent I paid goes towards helping people who are living with HIV/AIDS, and
  2. It's a color I like in a formula I like.

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus is an Amplified finish lipstick. The color is a mid-tone fuchsia with some faint iridescence; however, it never looks sparkly. I think it leans more warm than cool, but depending on the lighting, it can pull warm or cool in photos. This was an unusually slick, glossy lipstick for an Amplified, but I still found it pigmented, creamy, and comfortable to wear.

  1. That's an awesome colour on you! I tried it on and sadly it looks weirdlly pastel on me (i.e. not flattering).

  2. It really is a gorgeous shade! I'm not really a fan of how miley has decided to separate herself from her old image. I believe that there was better way to get the media's attention....

    1. I seriously have no problem with her cutting her hair, running around half naked, and licking everything. She wanted to break away from her Disney image and be herself, go on ahead. But when she's asked about her treatment of people of color and her weird cultural appropriation, she comes off blithe--that's ridiculous. Hopefully, she grows out of it.

  3. They've really been knocking it out of the park with the celebrity VG shades these past few years.
